A
ssociate Professor of Church History, Covenant Theological Seminary

B.A., M.A., Bob Jones University; Ph.D., Westminster Theological

was elected to the faculty the following year, appointed Dean of Faculty
in 2006, Vice President for Academics in 2007
, and Chief Academic

things: that Jesus Christ is the hero of the Christian story in every
generation and that the church's tradition is a wonderful resource of
wisdom and skilled insight for contemporary theological reflection and
pastoral practice.

Dr. Lucas is an ordained minister in the
Presbyterian Church in
America. Prior to joining the seminary faculty, Dr. Lucas served as an
assistant pastor at Community Presbyterian Church in Louisville, Ky.,
and an assistant pastor of preaching at
The Covenant Presbyterian
Church, St. Louis, Mo. He has served on a number of presbytery and
General Assembly committees.

He is the author of two books:
Robert Lewis Dabney: A Southern
Presbyterian Life (P&R, 2005) and On Being Presbyterian: Our Beliefs,
Practices, and Stories (P&R, 2006); he also co-edited two books,
including
All for Jesus: A Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of
Covenant Theological Seminary (Christian Focus, 2006). When he is
not chasing his four children with his wife, Sara, he plays shortstop for
his church’s softball team, follows the
St. Louis Cardinals, and works
in his garden.
